Light and Capture
In some venues or in poor weather, additional lighting may be recommended.
A second light can correct harsh sunlight and provide more artfully captured images by adding directional, off-camera light. Our assistants work with the photographer and help to get everything needed for a successful session out to the location. A lighting assistant is especially helpful when the wind presents a challenge for the photographer in an open space, holding the light stand, or when direct sunlight needs softening through a hand-held diffusion screen.
This season we have invited 2 high school students as summer interns to help with lighting at beach portraits.
Toby is Susan’s youngest of 3 sons, and at 17 is an experienced and helpful assistant!
He helps with the lighting equipment at family portraits on location, transporting to and from the parking area, holding a wind guard, light stand, or a sunlight diffusion screen.
