Planning your Family Portrait Location
The right location for your family portrait can make all the difference!
We are happy to come to your private beach, or a favorite beach that is convenient to where you stay. Or we can recommend one that we are familiar with.
The various beaches on Cape Cod have different features and you may have a preference. Here are images from some common locations to help give you an idea of how they may look in a photograph.
The natural beauty of the Cape
We look for locations that offer elements we like to see in a Cape Cod portrait, such as soft, clean sand, dunes, beach grass, beach fence and paths and an active surf. There are also lifeguard stations, rocks, and tidal pools (at low tide).
The sun sets over Cape Cod Bay, so those beaches offer a sunset. The wind can be worse on the south side of the Cape, so we may change your sitting location when you call to confirm the day of the session to accommodate the weather.
Let us know if any member of your family has limited mobility and we will recommend a location that does not require much walking. We can provide a beach chair for an elderly person who may not want to sit on the sand, or who will have trouble getting up again.
There are green inland locations as well, such as the Drummer Boy Park in Brewster, which features a traditional wind mill and a gazebo and playground, as well as views of the bay. Or Bray Farm in Dennis, which features a board walk over a marsh and birch trees, rock walls and a barn.
